* Anxiety Panic Attack and Anxiety Panic Disorder: A constant, recurring, anxiety panic attack is
characteristic of anxiety panic disorder. They normally happen abruptly and with any warning and
can paralyze a person for up to a half hour. The person experiencing the anxiety panic attack will
eventually learn to avoid places and situations that they perceive as triggers for the attacks. This
is known as Agoraphobia, where you are likely to avoid public places that an anxiety panic attack
can occur in, such as shopping malls, confined spaces or any other place you can not easily escape from.
* Phobias: A phobia is an unrealistic or exaggerated fear of specific objects, activity, or situation.
Some of the more common phobias include fear of animals, fear of heights and fear of flying.
* Social Anxiety / Social Phobia: People who suffer from this anxiety panic disorder have unrealistic
fear of being viewed negatively by others and public humiliation. Social anxiety panic disorder is basically
extreme shyness. People suffering from this anxiety panic disorder may simply avoid social situations
altogether.

Panic attacks strike thousands of people each year, many of which have never had one before. You can be driving down the road or in your bed asleep when a panic attack begins. Women tend to be more prone to panic attacks than men, and once you have one, there is a pretty good likelihood that you will eventually have another. Panic attacks are more likely in people that already are suffering from another type of mental problem, such as depression, or unrealistic fears. No one has been able to find out for certain what causes people to have panic attacks. Some researchers think there are some genetic links to panic attacks, and that of course stress is also a trigger. If someone in your family has had panic attacks, you are more likely to have one too.
Currently, panic attacks are divided into three categories, spontaneous panic attacks, situational predisposed panic attacks, and specific panic attacks. Spontaneous panic attacks are usually found in patients who suffer from panic disorder. Panic disorder is a disease in which patients have many panic attacks, go through significant behavior and personality changes due to those attacks, and constantly live in fear of the next panic attack. There are no specific triggers that cause these spontaneous panic attacks. They can even occur while the patient is in bed sound asleep. Spontaneous panic attacks, and panic disorder can be very devastating to a person's life and can greatly impact every aspect of their day to day living.
Situational predisposed panic attacks also affect people who have panic disorder. In this case, there are certain locations or events that trigger the panic attack, even though the patient may not be afraid of or normally experience fear at that particular time. They do not have a panic attack every time they are at that particular location, or every time they participate in that particular event. Predisposed means that they have had an attack there in the past, and that it could happen again, but may not necessarily happen at any given time.
Specific panic attacks occur when a patient comes into contact with something he fears, or goes a specific place that he is afraid of. Going back to the scene of a bad car accident, or visiting the house you grew up in if you had a bad childhood, those would be times that might trigger a specific panic attack. These attacks are the easiest to deal with, as you simply try to avoid the places and situations that you know seem to trigger the onset of a panic attack.
Some theories suggest that certain panic attacks are caused due to chemical imbalances within the brain. They also state that panic attacks often start after a catastrophic life event or gradual increase in stress levels overtime. They can be caused by the abuse of certain illegal drugs, or can be more prone to occur after someone has suffered from a major medical illness.
Other theories believe that incidents that occur during out childhood could be the cause of panic attacks as we grow older. We learn appropriate behaviors as children; we also develop self esteem, confidence, and the social skills that we need to be a successful, happy adult. The theory indicates that those of us who did not gain the support and skills we needed as a child, are more likely to develop panic disorders or attacks as an adult because we don't know how to deal with situations in the grown-up world. When we are under significant stress for long periods, the stress of trying to be successful, healthy, and keep up in today's fast paced world it often builds up and ends up in a full blown panic attack. Things build up after a while until you reach a point that your body and mind has to say enough.
There are many treatment options that are successful in helping lessen the frequency and severity of panic attacks, so that you don't have to live your life in fear of the next one. Talk to your doctor, and see what options he can give you. Evaluate your life, and try to eliminate anything that you think may be a trigger, or help in causing your panic attacks.

The Most Common Causes of Anxiety


Anxiety disorders affect between 13-18% of the general population, but the truth is we all experience different forms of anxiety throughout our lives. An anxious mental state is often defined by feelings of fear, worry, uneasiness, or dread. It is often future-oriented, meaning that our anxieties are directed toward possible threats or negative experiences that haven't yet happened.
In the real world, most of us experience anxiety in varying degrees depending on the situation. It isn't always a bad thing, as some anxiety can motivate us to re-plan or re-think a situation before acting. However, excessive anxiety can be crippling to a point where we can't decide, we don't take action, or we mess up when the event finally comes.
DIFFERENT FORMS OF ANXIETY
Anxiety can come in many different forms depending on what it is that triggers our feelings of fear, worry, or dread. These three types of anxiety are often the most common types discussed in modern psychology research, but there are probably other types of anxiety that don't fit so neatly in these categories (specific phobias, existential anxiety, death anxiety, etc.) Nevertheless, these are the types of anxiety I will be referring to in this post:
Social Anxiety
Social anxiety is a fear or worry about social situations. We may feel uncomfortable or avoid environments that involve large groups of people (like school, work, public speeches, high school reunions, etc.) or we may even feel uncomfortable or avoid certain kinds of 1-to-1 interactions (like job interviews, dating, interacting with a stranger for the first time, or meeting a celebrity).
Most people feel some kind of anxiety in these situations but it varies greatly from person to person. Some people may feel more comfortable in groups, while others feel more comfortable during 1-to-1 interactions. Some people may feel more comfortable talking to familiar faces, while others feel more comfortable meeting someone for the first time. It really depends on the environment and the person.
Performance Anxiety
Unlike social anxiety, performance anxiety is a fear or worry about performances, such as a student taking a final exam at school, or a musician performing on stage, or an athlete playing at a big sports game. We worry that we won't do our best, or that we will mess up or lose, and that anxiety can actually inhibit us from performing to our maximum capacity (or even performing at all, for example due to too much "stage fright").
Instead of focusing on what we need to get done to succeed, we become more focused on all the ways things that may go wrong. This can sometimes become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Our thoughts make us more uncomfortable and ill prepared, and then those thoughts lead to actions that reinforce our previous conceptions.
Choice Anxiety
Choice anxiety is an anxiety rooted in uncertainty when making decisions. The truth is that none of us can act or make a decision with full knowledge of what the consequences will be; the universe is just too complex, and our minds aren't capable of completely understanding it. Due to this, we often feel anxiety when making a big decision in our life, because we don't know if we will make the best possible choice.
Some common big decisions we need to make throughout our lives include: what college to go to, what career to pursue, who to date/marry, where to live, what kind of car to drive, etc.
We make decisions everyday and we have to face the "opportunity costs" from choosing one option over another. Some research suggests that the more options we have to choose from, the more difficult it is to make a decision. They claim that having more options leads to a higher "opportunity cost" (theoretically: the more we have to choose from, the more we miss out on), and when this opportunity cost becomes too big we can often suffer from paralysis by analysis. Paralysis by analysis inhibits us from making ANY decision because we are so lost on what the right course of action is.
I'm sure that you've experienced these kinds of anxieties through your life to varying degrees. That's good. A lot of our anxiety can be healthy and natural. However, when it starts interfering with how we want to live our lives, then it can become a problem that we need to deal with. The first step toward dealing with this problem is identifying some of the potential causes of our anxiety, then we can determine what are the best ways to treat it.
THE MOST COMMON CAUSES OF ANXIETY
There are a lot of factors that can contribute to our anxiety (and our mental health more generally). In this section, I am going to discuss some of the most common causes of anxiety, and also some potential treatment options for each one. However, it's important to remember that because our anxiety can be due to such a wide array of different variables, it is often better to integrate several treatment options simultaneously.
Genes
Certain gene variants may be associated with greater levels of anxiety. We all have a different biological make-up, and sometimes individuals may experience increased levels of anxiety for no other reason but that it is embedded in their genetic code. Anxiety can also be caused due to physical inactivity and poor diet. When we don't treat our bodies right then that can often have an effect on our mental states.
If we don't eat balanced meals and get all the nutrition we need, that often means our brains aren't getting enough nutrition either. This inhibits our brains from functionally as efficiently as they could be, which could very well become a contributor to higher levels of anxiety.
Physical activity is also crucial to both our physical and mental health. Running, playing sports, going to the gym, dancing, and anything that provides exercise is a great way to relieve stress and anxiety that may build up throughout the days or weeks. It's important that we have a way to channel hormones (like adrenaline and cortisol) in positive and healthy ways, otherwise they manifest themselves as stress and anxiety.

Those who experience regular anxiety attacks (two or more anxiety attacks a month) should go to a doctor. It's very likely that those who experience that many anxiety attacks have an anxiety or panic disorder. An anxiety attack is also often called a panic attack.
Regular anxiety attacks can prevent the person who experiences them from living a normal, happy life. Anyone of any adult age, from both genders, and of all races and economic backgrounds can have an anxiety attack.

There are a lot of various panic disorder causes... one cause that really does not get a lot of attention is the foods that you eat. Typically people eat a diet that is generally horrible. You should try to eat mostly fruits and vegetable with a little lean protein thrown in there for energy. You should try to avoid salt, sugar, fatty proteins, alcohol, and dairy products. It's quite an adjustment to most people's diets but it is recommended that about 80% of your diet is concentrated on fruits and vegetables.
